Jamia Millia Protest: Priyanka Chopra Lauds Students For Raising Voice; Ananya Panday Not ‘Well-Informed’ To Take A Stand
Delhi’s Jamia Millia protests, being held by the students, have taken the nation by storm. It all started after the Indian government announced passing the Citizenship Amendment Bill into an act, now known as CAA. The act grants Indian citizenship to Hindu immigrants across Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. People who haven’t accepted this decision have been displaying their infuriation in the form of protests all across, the disturbing visuals of which have surfaced everywhere. Several Bollywood celebrities have spoken up on this issue and the latest ones to jump onto the bandwagon are Priyanka Chopra and Ananya Panday.

Taking to her Twitter account, PeeCee penned a note in support of all the students protesting against CAA. As per the actress, the fact that students have been raising their voices peacefully but are getting violence in return is wrong. “Education for every child is our dream. Education is what empowered them to think independently. We have raised them to have a voice. In a thriving democracy, to raise one's voice peacefully and be met with violence is wrong. Every voice counts. And each voice will work towards changing India. #HaveVoiceWillRaise #HaveVoiceMustRaise,” she wrote.  (ALSO READ - Jamia Millia Protests: Alia Bhatt Extends Support To CAA Protestors, Says, ‘Learn From The Students’)

Ananya Panday, on the other hand, refused to take a stance stating that isn’t fully aware of the situation. In a conversation with Zoom, the actress said that she believes in peace and non-violence and that one should respect all the religions. She added, “I think it’s very important to use your voice and use your voice responsibly. But, having said that, I think you should have all the knowledge before you do that. And I think when it comes to politics, I am not that well informed to take a stand. I know I am an actor and whatever I say people are going to get influenced by that... and you know something I am going to say is going to impact a lot of people, so I would only like to speak once I know all the facts and information.”

Various celebrities like Hrithik Roshan, Sidharth Malhotra, Vicky Kaushal, Rajkummar Rao and others have spoken over the Jamia Millia protests.
